Aunty Collective Indigenous Creative Practice Gallery Presents:

kʷənəŋitəl : ways of our ancestors

kʷənəŋitəl : ways of our ancestors, holds space for collaborations between ourselves, our relatives, and our ancestors that are based in ethics of care. As we continue to develop roots in our Indigenous ways of knowing and being and reframe our relationships with Western systems, the need for collaborative practices with those interested in creating brave spaces is consistently revealed. Here we dream up new, queer worlds where we belong, thrive and live.

Welcome.

Within this brave space we encourage you to use your courage, be thoughtful with your words and actions, witness, be called to action, create and dream alongside us.

The image you see throughout the exhibit was created is a collaboration between queer creatives Brianna Dick- lək̓ʷəŋən and Molly Long- Cree/Métis. The idea sprang from an Art Drop in evening at Aunty Collective where we gather to take care of each other and create. The image was tattooed on many of us and provided medicine as we navigated some hard times together and within ourselves. This collaboration holds the medicine of differing nations and teachings, yet comes together to take care of us all. kʷənəŋitəl : ways of our ancestors holds resistance, medicine, and healing not just for ourselves, but for you as a witness, and for our ancestors and children to come. kʷənəŋitəl : ways of our ancestors is a call to action for us all to take care of each other and nurture brave spaces.
