You can choose between 1-2 day professional development programs and we can work together to create the perfect mix of art, culture, and focused skill/knowledge sharing to fit your group’s needs.

DRUM MAKING (ELK HIDE DRUMS WITH HANDLES IN A VARIETY OF SIZES)
Basic Drum Workshops take between 3-4 hours. Participants will learn how to make/bring to life a drum using elk hide, wooden rims and handles. Drum teachings will be shared.

ADVANCED 2-DAY DRUM WORKSHOP
Advanced Drum Making Workshops Include: drum making, waking-up ceremony if requested, drumstick making, and painting drum. 3-4 hours per day. Workshop days must be spaced in order to allow time for drums to dry.

1-DAY BEADED MOCCASIN MAKING WORKSHOP
Participants will bead a simple design, and sew together moccasins.

2-DAY BEADED MOCCASIN MAKING WORKSHOP
Participants will learn to bead a custom or provided beaded pattern, as well as potential embellishments. Between days participants can drop in for beading support at AC.
Each workshop takes 3 hours.

2-DAY RATTLE WORKSHOPS
Participants will make a rattle and learn teachings as they create. Day one the rattles will be sewn, filled and left to dry. Day two rattles will be filled with medicines and rattle material and then designed and completed. Rattle workshops per day will be approx 2 hours.

BEADING WORKSHOPS
Participants will each receive a beading kit complete with all the necessities for learning and creating. Workshop is approx. 2 hours.

RIBBON SKIRT WORKSHOP
Participants will learn how to create their own ribbon skirt. Participants can choose from various materials and ribbons available. Workshop is 3 hours or more depending on the number of participants.

MEDICINE BAG WORKSHOP AND TEACHINGS
Participants will learn some teachings about being in relationship with plant medicines as well as some of the medicinal and healing qualities of plant relatives, including Sage, Tobacco, Sweetgrass, Cedar, Devil's club and more. Elder and knowledge keepers will share plant teachings about harvesting and sharing in a good way. Each participant will assemble a medicine bag and learn simple beading techniques. Medicines to put in the bag will be provided.
Workshop is 2 hours and provides teachings around medicine, sewing and beading.

DOUBLE MEDICINE MAKING WORKSHOP
Participants will learn plant knowledge teachings from; harvesting in a good way, infusing medicines, and processing plants. Each participant will leave with 2 types of medicine - smudge, salve, tincture, tea or bath salts. Workshop takes 2-3 hours.

SALVE MAKING WORKSHOP
Participants will learn plant knowledge teachings from; harvesting in a good way, infusing oil with medicines, processing plants and how to make salves. Devil's Club medicine in particular will be focussed on. Each participant will leave with 2 salves. Workshop is 2 hours long.

CEDAR WEAVING WORKSHOP
Knowledge keepers will share cedar harvesting and weaving teachings. Each participant will learn how to cedar weave and will leave with their creation.

Long-Term Programs
AC offers a variety of programs that center in particular youth, 2-spirit LGBTQIA+ Indigequeer peoples, and women. We offer art drop-in time where young ones and collective members can utilize supplies and aunties to support their creative expressions.
As we establish ourselves we will have further programming available to our communities. We are looking forward to having ‘on the land’ courses and workshops in the months to come as well.
