Tea Lee
Tea is a mixed Indigenous, queer, non-binary artist and designer. They are a descendent of the Scw'exmx people from the Nlaka'pamux nation and Celtic settlers.
Tea has been thrifting and upcycling their own clothing for over 30 years. A hobby born from necessity has evolved into Tealee Studio. Inspired by nature, traditional Nlaka'pamux symbols and designs, they upcycle clothing by altering, embellishing, hand painting and printing. Tea utilises scraps and end of the roll fabrics to make patches and bandanas. Their goal is to make comfortable, eco conscious clothing that celebrates their values and cultures.
Tea also dabbles in collage art and has been working on the Land Back series since 2023. Using images from vintage tourism books and magazines, they put out a strong message to remind people whose land we are on.
